Live event tracking

Every boat on the map. Every gap on the screen.

A 4G GPS tracker on each boat and on each mark feeds a live map for spectators, race graphics for the livestream, and position updates straight to WhatsApp. Built in-house for sailing, not adapted from a running app.

What's in it

One system, three outputs.

The same tracker data drives the public map, the broadcast graphics and the WhatsApp channel, so positions always agree.

  • MAPPublic web page: live fleet positions, course and marks, leaderboard, replay after each race.
  • GRAPHICSLeaderboard with speed and distance to leader, team intros, animated 2D fleet view, final results screen.
  • WHATSAPPMark roundings and finishes posted to a channel your club joins from a QR code on the noticeboard.

Fleet view

The course, as the graphics see it.

Because the marks carry trackers too, the system knows the course without anyone drawing it. Gaps are measured along the leg, not as the crow flies.

How it runs on the day

No cabling, no tent full of laptops.

TRACKERS

Issued at check-in, collected at the dock

Each boat gets a waterproof 4G unit with the sail number on it. Marks get one too. We charge, issue, collect and replace them; the race office never touches a tracker.

CONNECTIVITY

Runs on the mobile network

Trackers send over 4G, so the system works anywhere with phone coverage on the course. The producer runs graphics from an office on stable internet rather than from the club wifi.

FLEET SIZE

Built for 5 boats or 50

The leaderboard pages through large fleets and the fleet view scales to the course. Boat names are never shown twice on a graphic, which matters more than it sounds in a 40-boat fleet.

WITHOUT TRACKERS

Graphics still work

If an event only wants the livestream, team intros and results graphics run from the entry list and results sheet alone. Add tracking later when the budget allows.

Who it's for

Three audiences, one feed.

Race committees

See the whole fleet from the start boat, confirm mark roundings, and keep the replay for protests. Results flow straight into the hosted results page.

Spectators and families

Follow from the club balcony or from home. Live map on the phone, updates in WhatsApp, and a stream with commentary that explains what's happening.

Sponsors

Named leaderboards, logo placements in the broadcast and the graphics, and a measurable audience to report back on. A livestream is something you can sell naming rights to.

FAQ

Questions committees ask.

What if a tracker goes overboard?

They're waterproof and they float. We carry spares and swap any unit that stops reporting. Loss and damage are covered in the package; you won't be invoiced for a lost tracker.

Do we need internet at the club?

No. Trackers send over 4G, and the graphics producer works remotely. Only the commentary camera and the livestream encoder need a connection, and we can run that over a 4G bonded link if the club wifi isn't reliable.

Can we use our own results software?

Yes. We take the results sheet in whatever format your scorer produces and generate the graphics and the hosted results page from it.

Does the tracking work for offshore or passage races?

Tracking works wherever there's mobile coverage. For courses that leave coverage we'll tell you up front where the gaps will be rather than promise a continuous track.

Who owns the data afterwards?

The event does. Replays and results stay hosted for 12 months, and competitors can buy their own boat's data report from us after the event.
